    12. Pour a glass of Pinot

Health boost: Live 5 years longer

A Dutch study following 1,300 men for 40 years found that those who regularly drank up to a half glass of wine each day boosted their life expectancy by half a decade, compared with teetotalers. Study authors say the polyphenolic compounds in wine (especially red) may have heart-healthy effects that are probably seen in women as well. "Alcohol raises levels of 'good' cholesterol and can increase levels of tPA [tissue plasminogen activator], a protein that helps break down blood clots; both benefits can help minimize potentially life-threatening ailments such as stroke and heart disease," says Katz. But remember, because even modest alcohol intake is associated with an increased risk of breast cancer, if you are a social drinker, keep your daily intake low—no more than one glass per day (men can have up to two).

I just opened up my iGoogle and my horoscope was the first thing that caught my eye (I am a Libra).  It always amazes me when it is spot on...

You're rather serious about your feelings today, possibly making others withdraw because they don't want to be around your uncharacteristic intensity now. But there's no need to arbitrarily alter your path just to get someone to like you. It's sufficient to stay true to your values.

Nevertheless, it doesn't hurt to be kind.

Much like my birthday tends to sprawl throughout all of September, I am going to make this Thanksgiving last longer than a day (or with leftovers.... a few days) with a pre-thanksgiving day celebration.  Maybe my friends will join in... Maybe not. Either way, this weekend I will be celebrating.

Hello! My name is Shana Ray, a Digital (Social Media) Marketing Director, working with wineries, restaurants & tech.

My main website can be found at http://shanaray.com but I use this one as my social media/wine/food/music/llama blog and my way to get out my frustrations with the stuffiness that sometimes comes with wine.

...and I have red hair and can usually be heard before I am seen.

I am a partner at Two Five Media and a Digital Media + PR Manager for Collaborize Classroom http://CollaborizeClassroom.com/blog

    .... yup, llamas.
