Ten years ago today, my group of friends lost an amazing human being.... Our great friend Hudson died of Cancer at age 19. Hudson was the guy that brought us all together and was my partner in crime in many adventures.  This is a picture from our senior yearbook where we won "Biggest Flirts" aka "Most likely to be sued for sexual harassment."  Unfortunately, he never got the chance... Which means I have some work to do at my new job!

Today was an amazing day with old friends whom I haven't seen in years.... Friends that he brought together when he was alive.

It is also a day to not cry for what we lost, but smile at what we had.

(please know that I am kidding... I have no plans to sexually harass anyone).

Top Chef "Restaurant Wars" is usually a favorite episode of mine each year and just like the rest of this season, this episode has fallen flat.

The food is un-inspiring, the chefs are boring and most importantly, no hot guys for me to root for (Yeah, i am talkin' about Michael Voltaggio).

Thankfully, the saving factor this week has to do with an inside joke that has me laughing at the beet course and will most likely make me laugh every time I eat beets for a while.

That is all... Nope, I will not say what the inside joke is.... Ya had to be there, or at least heard it from Adam. :)

This week's Bohemian featured Healdsburg friend Scott Keneally in an article, that not only made me tear up from laughter twice, but also made me question my own habits.

I tried the detoxifying diet "The Master Cleanse" a few years ago.

Unsuccessfully.  I made it two days and ended up having a big meeting at work which required several shots of espresso beforehand and a cocktail, or three afterward.

It isn't a diet I would recommend to anyone who works 8 to 5, especially those who cannot get outta bed without coffee.  But for a person who eats and drinks for a living like I do, time off is needed.  Summer (or at least this crazy version of summer) out in Wine Country means that there is a wine or food event every single weekend and many week days, so even if I wanted to attempt a detox, it just too difficult for me to say no to a winery BBQ, or a baseball game or next weekend's Grape to Glass event in Russian River Valley.

So I did some investigating of my own... The next 10 days I have free without a birthday party, vacation across the country, conference, holiday, wedding or wine event isn't until February of next year.... YEAH.  I never realized how completely jam packed my life is until seeing my calendar spread out like I did today.

So, next February (or maybe sooner, if I can clear some things in my calendar), expect to see my journey into some sort of detox.   Definitely not the Master Cleanse...  But something to restart my body.

Until then, I cannot help but to continue to enjoy the local dining scene here in Wine Country.

In 2006, a book called Naked Conversations: How Blogs are Changing the Way Businesses Talk with Customers revolutionized the online community and helped blogging become a way of life. The co-authors, Shel Israel and Robert Scoble have become leading social media icons and leaders, both online and offline.

On Friday, September 10th the two will reunite to speak for the first time in over two years in an event we are calling Wisdom of We 2010 or #WOW10 if you are on Twitter. This is the first event ever in Santa Rosa with this caliber of speakers and presenters in social media.

    Shel Israel #WOW10

Shel Israel (aka @shelisrael on twitter) is the author of Twitterville and editorial contributor to BusinessWeek, Dow Jones Co, and FastCompany.tv

The two authors will be a part of a round table discussion panel (other speakers are in the process of being finalized), answering questions about where the future of collaboration, online communities and social networking is headed, discussing real world examples of people coming together, best practices, and answering questions from the audience (both in person and via Twitter).

Wisdom of We 2010 is taking place at the Hilton Sonoma Wine Country in Santa Rosa, Ca. just a short drive from San Francisco, in the middle of Wine Country. We are expecting a sold out event and tickets are in high demand, so register now at http://wow10.eventbrite.com/

Of course, it isn’t a social media event without a tweetup. And it isn’t Sonoma County without some wine, so after the panel discussion, there will be a wine tasting reception on the patio at the Hilton, overlooking the city of Santa Rosa. There will be a few social media games and surprises that I will blog about soon.

Robert Scoble (aka @Scobleizer on twitter) is a tech evangelist who has worked for Microsoft, Fast Company and is currently at Rackspace

We have kept the event extremely affordable for everyone and tickets are on sale now for a mere $25.00 for both the seminar and the tweetup, which includes; wine, pre-seminar and local cheeses, charcuterie and wine tasting during the tweetup.  If you want to stay later, the Nectar Lounge at the Hilton has some amazing cocktails and is a great place to grab breakfast the next morning. They also are giving away a great deal on hotel rooms for attendees, just call 1-800-HILTONS (booking website coming soon) and let them know you will be attending the event.

We are looking for amazing businesses who would want to help sponsor this event, so please email me at sray@democrasoft.com if you would like more information on our sponsorship packages!

We look forward to seeing you there!

Hello! My name is Shana Ray, a Digital (Social Media) Marketing Director, working with wineries, restaurants & tech.

My main website can be found at http://shanaray.com but I use this one as my social media/wine/food/music/llama blog and my way to get out my frustrations with the stuffiness that sometimes comes with wine.

...and I have red hair and can usually be heard before I am seen.

I am a partner at Two Five Media and a Digital Media + PR Manager for Collaborize Classroom http://CollaborizeClassroom.com/blog

    .... yup, llamas.
