social media, tech, food and wine in a world that takes itself too seriously.
One of my clients is Nancy Blatt, the owner of Doggie Bags West, a Santa Rosa business that sells those dispensers that hold dog poop bags at dog parks, apartment complexes, hotels, office spaces, etc. In addition to helping get them up on social networks, I am also helping her with a new contest that asks dog lovers to show off their dogs... Not that they are not already doing that!
Nancy is dedicated to help people reduce their pet's Paw Carbon Footprint (yup, humans are not the only ones that are causing Global Warming) by selling 100% Biodegradable bags, having a commitment to dog charities and connecting with other dog lovers online. Doggie Bags West has a new website, complete with a blog with latest doggie news and featuring dog owners who also share Nancy’s love of dogs and the environment. Nancy is also just getting into Twitter.... Find her at @DoggieBagsWest and soon on Facebook.“I want to connect with other dog lovers online to help educate others on how to be an environmentally friendly dog owner.”
Doggie Bags West has just started a new promotion, asking all dog owners to submit their pictures of their favorite pooch along with a short bio and the answer to the question “What are you and your dog doing to help reduce your carbon paw print?”
“We chose the Human Society because it is a national charity that has proven their success in helping animals, and honestly, those commercials just break my heart and I want to do what I can to help.”

There are so many puns that I could come up with in telling you all about Fish Day at Michel-Schlumberger Wine Estate. Instead, I will simply say that tomorrow they are kicking off their first event in their Worms to Wine Nature Series.
Over the next six months, Michel-Schlumberger will be presenting monthly educational events that highlight their commitment to the land and showcase specific aspects of their organic and sustainable farming practices. MS is more than a winery know for their kick ass wines, videos, silly hats and awesome social media skills.... Thanks in part to Judd, Jim and myself. :) They are a winery that truly cares about the area that they make their wine. They truly walk the walk when it comes to sustainable farming practices.... Take a look at today's article in the Press Democrat about them... Oh wait, that was from Wednesday. :) I mean this one: Habitat restoration will benefit trout and salmon, about all that winemaker Mike Brunson is doing to help restore the wildlife in Dry Creek. Tomorrow is Fish Day from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Celebrating all things fishy, they are starting the afternoon with a personal tour of the fish hatchery at Lake Sonoma with Ranger Michael Carroll to meet spawning steelhead trout face to face. Following the tour everyone will head back to Michel-Schlumberger for a walk, talk and sip with Winemaker Mike Brunson and Elliott Doss of California Fish and Game along fish friendly and recently restored Wine Creek. Finally, a personal tasting of Mike’s favorite wines will be in the Cellar. Event price is $20. A portion of Fish Day proceeds goes to The Friends of Lake Sonoma – a non-profit organization whose purpose is to serve and support the interpretive and visitor service programs at Lake Sonoma. Make sure to call the winery to reserve your seat! 707-433-7427For more info, check out the Event Page on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=384578588856&ref=mfI think I would get this before the Golden Girls tattoo.
I randomly found this tattoo online when doing a search to see why Betty White was trending on Twitter.
http://twitter.com/#search?q=Betty%20WhiteFinally I am getting to writing my wrap-ups of the craziness of last week. With Sonoma County Restaurant Week and the grand opening of Sift: a Cupcakery in downtown Santa Rosa, my week was filled with dining out, cupcakes and of course, I was never without my trusty iphone.
Friday night was the Grand Opening celebration of Sift. Owner Andrea invited local Santa Rosa business owners and media to come take a look around (their new party room should be open by the middle of March), eat some food, drink some Chandon bubbles, eat some mini cupcakes and.....If anyone ever visits Sift make sure to sign in on Foursquare or tweet a picture or two to @Sifted!
Cheers!Barrel Tasting Weekends is one of the biggest events in the wine country and the biggest question on everyone’s mind is…Where to taste?
Are you going to a place that has great wines, a place that is fun to hang out at, a place that has great people, a place that will be serving bites to eat, or perhaps a place where people wear funny hats? Well why not do all of the above at ONE winery?
Michel-Schlumberger Wine Estate in Dry Creek Valley is your place!
Come for the great wines - We will be pouring our amazing 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon and our EXTREMELY LIMITED release of 2007 Petite Sirah (40 cases ONLY). Come for the beautiful splendor of our Benchland Wine Estate and our 100 acre all-organic estate. Come for our incredible staff who will all be wearing the craziest hats we could find.
We invite you to join in the fun by coming by the winery and wear your favorite crazy hat. There will be a contest for the best hat each weekend and then we will be adding our favorite pictures to the Michel-Schlumberger Facebook page, giving you the opportunity to win a Grand Prize voted on by our Facebook fans.
Fans will vote by “liking the photo” and the one who gets the most votes, wins. So make sure to check back on our Facebook Page and tell all your friends to vote for your picture!
