Next weekend (Nov13 & 14th) is a long weekend because of Veterans Day which automatically makes it a great one... But it also the weekend of the first 2010 Innovation Summit.  This two day event in Healdsburg is on by the great people at Partners for Growth & Innovation.

In addition to some of my favorite wine friends (Paul Mabray, Alan Baker and Hardy Wallace), Jeremiah Owyang who moderated the Wisdom of We 2010 seminar that we threw back in September is the featured speaker.  director of marketing at my company, Democrasoft, Mark Kithcart will be there.

Oh, and I will be there!  Details to come... But you will definitely be seeing and reading more from me!

The ancient Chinese regarded it as the "Immortal Health Elixir".                 We agree.

Organic, raw and probiotic, Vibranz may reward your digestion, metabolism, liver function and immune system with vitality and clarity. In turn, you may experience increased physical energy, mental focus and emotional balance.

Thu, 01 Apr 2010 15:51:00 -0700 new @seghesio tasting flight kits. http://shanaray.posterous.com/new-seghesio-tasting-flight-kits http://shanaray.posterous.com/new-seghesio-tasting-flight-kits

Seghesio Family Vineyards just released their new Spring wines and to celebrate they also came out with a new way for everyone to try all six wines... a Tasting Flight Kit that has mini bottle of their latest Zins, a Sangiovese and their Omaggio, a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Sangiovese.

Cathy Seghesio showed me this Tasting Kit while visiting the headquarters this morning and I love the idea... It brings part of the tasting room experience to your house.  It is such a great idea for Twitter Taste Live or any at home tasting event!   Also, if you purchase one you get $24 off 12 bottles of wine if you so feel inclined to purchase more of what you just tasted!

You can only purchase these online and they are selling fast, so hurry up and purchase one ASAP before they are gone!  (P.S. Yes, Seghesio is a client of mine...)

Fri, 19 Mar 2010 15:08:00 -0700 Something fishy is going on at @M_Schlumberger. http://shanaray.posterous.com/something-fishy-is-going-on-at-mschlumberger http://shanaray.posterous.com/something-fishy-is-going-on-at-mschlumberger

Fish

There are so many puns that I could come up with in telling you all about Fish Day at Michel-Schlumberger Wine Estate.  Instead, I will simply say that tomorrow they are kicking off their first event in their Worms to Wine Nature Series.

Over the next six months, Michel-Schlumberger will be presenting monthly educational events that highlight their commitment to the land and showcase specific aspects of their organic and sustainable farming practices.   MS is more than a winery know for their kick ass wines, videos, silly hats and awesome social media skills.... Thanks in part to Judd, Jim and myself. :)   They are a winery that truly cares about the area that they make their wine.   They truly walk the walk when it comes to sustainable farming practices.... Take a look at today's article in the Press Democrat about them...  Oh wait, that was from Wednesday.  :)

I mean this one: Habitat restoration will benefit trout and salmon, about all that winemaker Mike Brunson is doing to help restore the wildlife in Dry Creek.

Tomorrow is Fish Day from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Celebrating all things fishy, they are starting the afternoon with a personal tour of the fish hatchery at Lake Sonoma with Ranger Michael Carroll to meet spawning steelhead trout face to face. Following the tour everyone will head back to Michel-Schlumberger for a walk, talk and sip with Winemaker Mike Brunson and Elliott Doss of California Fish and Game along fish friendly and recently restored Wine Creek. Finally, a personal tasting of Mike’s favorite wines will be in the Cellar.

Event price is $20. A portion of Fish Day proceeds goes to The Friends of Lake Sonoma – a non-profit organization whose purpose is to serve and support the interpretive and visitor service programs at Lake Sonoma.

Make sure to call the winery to reserve your seat!  707-433-7427

Mon, 01 Mar 2010 21:29:00 -0800 #BarrelTasting at @M_Schlumberger http://shanaray.posterous.com/barreltasting-at-mschlumberger http://shanaray.posterous.com/barreltasting-at-mschlumberger
Barrel Tasting Weekends is one of the biggest events in the wine country and the biggest question on everyone’s mind is…

Where to taste?

Are you going to a place that has great wines, a place that is fun to hang out at, a place that has great people, a place that will be serving bites to eat, or perhaps a place where people wear funny hats? Well why not do all of the above at ONE winery?

Michel-Schlumberger Wine Estate in Dry Creek Valley is your place!

Come for the great wines - We will be pouring our amazing 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon and our EXTREMELY LIMITED release of 2007 Petite Sirah (40 cases ONLY). Come for the beautiful splendor of our Benchland Wine Estate and our 100 acre all-organic estate. Come for our incredible staff who will all be wearing the craziest hats we could find.

We invite you to join in the fun by coming by the winery and wear your favorite crazy hat. There will be a contest for the best hat each weekend and then we will be adding our favorite pictures to the Michel-Schlumberger Facebook page, giving you the opportunity to win a Grand Prize voted on by our Facebook fans.

Fans will vote by “liking the photo” and the one who gets the most votes, wins. So make sure to check back on our Facebook Page and tell all your friends to vote for your picture!

Do you know the way to Schlumberger?

Sun, 19 Jul 2009 16:48:00 -0700 goode tasting room employees. http://shanaray.posterous.com/goode-tasting-room-employees http://shanaray.posterous.com/goode-tasting-room-employees

I never realized how many stupid puns one could use with the word "good"  but I am sure we will hear all of them by the time this is all over.

I just left the Murphy-Goode tasting room after an hour of wine tasting and talking to most of the top ten finalists.  Below are some pictures I took with the iphone, but if you really want to see some amazing shots take a look at http://www.areallygoodetrip.com/index.php/photos/ where Adam has posted his images of his "Really Goode Trip" to Healdsburg.  It is great to see my little town through his eyes, and through the eyes of all the other tweets and Facebook updates from almost all of the candidates.

It is funny, when I posted a Facebook status update today mentioning the free tasting, I had a few comments asking if I had won the "contest."

Shana Ray will be visiting the Murphy Goode tasting room this afternoon to drink some wine and hang out with the top 10 finalists.... You should come too!! FREE TASTING and entertainment from 3-5.

Well, first off everyone and their mother would have already known if I had 'won."  I would be screaming all over town about my goode fortune.  Second, I would have had to enter to win.... Damn pesky rules.

The reasoning I never entered the job search was because I already live here in Healdsburg. My guess is that the Murphy Goode team was looking for someone who could come into the area and into the wine world and see it all from a fresh perspective and tell the world about how amazing it is here.  I already do that everyday.

The tweets and images from yesterday reaffirmed my guess.   All ten candidates were so excited to see vineyards, their hotel rooms and the Healdsburg square.... I don't have the same "new" excitement about all of it as I did when I first moved here, but I do get excited to see others reaction to my home town.

I am sure there will be more tweets and pictures to come because I hope to be able to see these awesome individuals again before they leave (as Adam told my mom in the tasting room, "we have been friends for about two weeks now").

For now, here are some images I took from today's goode tasting.

Cheers.

*shana.

(p.s. that blond lady with me is my mom, she came to harrass the candiates too).

Mon, 06 Jul 2009 19:43:00 -0700 in case you care about what I eat while sick... http://shanaray.posterous.com/in-case-you-care-about-what-i-eat-while-sick http://shanaray.posterous.com/in-case-you-care-about-what-i-eat-while-sick

Just some of the images of the food and drinks I have eaten/drank while suffering a horrific head cold today (I didn't take a picture of my tea or toast this morning).  The tomato is the first one I ate out of my own garden (please ignore the dying leaf to its side, I cleaned that up after I took the picture).

Any other vegitarian suggestions of what good foods I should eat while sick?
