social media, tech, food and wine in a world that takes itself too seriously.
Hehe.
Thanks for the laugh Kainoa!
The 2nd Annual #PinotSmackdown!
#PinotSmackdown is a celebration of the world's most expressive wine grape combined with a knock-down, drag-out cage fight between YOUR FAVORITE Pinot-producing regions!
DATE: August 12, 2011
TIME: 24 hours in order to give everyone time to share a glass when it makes sense in their time zone.
IN REAL LIFE: Details coming soon (via @winetonite)
This event is FREE and all you need to participate is wine and Twitter, Facebook or your favorite social channel.
Everyone is encouraged to invite wine lovers to your location and make the Twitter stream of #PinotSmackdown tweets visible to attendees. We like to use Tweetdeck, TweetChat.com or Twitterfall.com to display all the tweets with the hashtag "#PinotSmackdown"
But, Wait! There's a twist... who makes the best Pinot you've ever tasted? To vote via your tweets simply add another 2-character hashtag after #PinotNoir and we'll count the votes so that region gets bragging rights for the night!
Voting region hashtags:
- #OR - Oregon
- #CA - California
- #WA - Washington
- #NY - New York
- #46 - U.S. The "Other 46," outside of the Big Four
- #FR - France
- #IT - Italy

Single Vineyard Night is happening in a few short days -- This Saturday, June 4th to be exact. To get all of our Facebook friends involved, we have a CONTEST just for you!!
From 6:30 (5:30 for VIP Reception) to 10:00 p.m. at Thomas George Estates in Healdsburg, California, we will be hosting THE event in Sonoma County -- A single origin wine tasting from the Russian River Valley (where both the growers and winemakers will be pouring wines), small bites of food, a dance party and the night’s entrainment will be provided by the winemakers and growers of Russian River Valley wineries with the hilarious Adventure Auction Lots.
These Adventure Auction Lots are unlike anything you have seen before - Made for a group of people to get together with their friends to bid on one adventure in Russian River Valley. From the videos to our members dressed up at the event, these lots were a smash hit last year and they are back!
All of the Adventure Auction Lots are sponsored by a Russian River Valley Winegrower member and the money for each lot will go to raise funds for educational programs and future events.
Each member thinks their Adventure is the best, so we ask you to vote for your favorite Adventure Lot video! Please visit our video tab on the Next Generation Wine Facebook Page and LIKE your favorite Adventure Auction Lot video.

The Vino Brothers from Two Amigos Wines discuss why wine is made from grapes vs. peaches or other fruits....
I guess so....
… a social media campaign is not a one night stand.
... There’s been a gross misunderstanding in this industry of what stories to tell the consumer. No customer cares about how many yields per acre you're picking at.
... Customer service is playing defense. You’re reacting to a problem. With a 'Thank-you department,' you’re on offense.
Everything about this picture warms my heart. I need this in my life (and yes, by this.. I mean that brown cardigan with wine stains). It looks comfy.

The winemaking at Woodenhead is pure and simple or, if you will, Burgundian done California-style. Our wine is handcrafted from a hard labor of love in tune to the natural rhythm of the land, the water, the air, and the seasons. No mechanical pumping is employed. Inoculated yeast and malolactic cultures, hand punching, basket pressing, French oak, and California fruit is what you get. Small and unique lots are our goal, ultra premium wine is the result.
